Torres Misfiring For Chelsea

Fernando Torres has been one of Chelsea’s misfiring strikers of this season as he has made over 26 league appearances but only managed on scoring in 5 occasions.

The inconsistency of the Spanish forward as well as Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o underperforming campaign is one of the main reasons on why Jose Mourinho is so desperate on landing a persistent attacker for the upcoming season with Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao at the top his list.

Despite his disappointing season, Torres has been included in Spain’s preliminary squad for the 2014 World Cup. Along with Vicente del Bosque, a number of coaches have already announced the provisional squad that they are taking into consideration for the worldwide event.

Spain has a friendly match against Bolivia scheduled to be played on May 30 and it will be one of the last chances for Vicente del Bosque to make up his mind about the squad that he will take to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup.

About 2 weeks ago Spain battled it out against Italy as they played at the stadium of Real Madrid at the Vicente Calderon and came out on top with a 1-0 score as Pedro managed to score the only goal of the entire match.

It remains unclear as to what Fernando Torres will be adding to the Spanish squad and with the likes of: Diego Costa, Pedro, Jesus Navas, Negredo and Fernando Llorente as some of the main attacking players that Vicente del Bosque has selected in his 30 man list, with all of these influential figures in the squad it’s doubtful if Fernando Torres has any place in the team.
