MAN UNITED WANT RODRIGUEZ THIS SUMMER

Manchester United want a double of Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez this summer.

Bale has reportedly agreed to move if the Red Devilsget a spot in the Champions League next season, after an underwhelming year.

On the other hand, Rodriguez is also a possibility as he has also struggled under Coach Zinedine Zidane. His agent Jorge Mendes has a good relationship with United manager Jose Mourinho, and he could push for the player to exit Spain this summer.

With Zidane’s preference for other top players and with the rotation policy he has been pushing, Rodriguez could get much more reduced play time next season. He would have to compete with stars like Alvaro Morata, Lucas Vasquez, Isco, Marco Asensio and the rest in that pool who are seeking first team guaranteed shirt.

The second string team has been very strong and talented, giving the team more depth. Madrid are on course for a double of the Champions League and the La Liga title this year. While it means laurels, it also assures of lesser playing time for Rodriguez.

After a successful time out in Juventus, Morata seemed uncomfortable with being on the bench. However, he seems to be a decent replacement for the aging Kareem Benzema. Rodriguez would have to compete with the rest of the lot for a shirt – with him likely seeing features in Copa del Rey matches or when an injury crises happens.

With United ready to challenge for titles next season, Rodriguez would have a big part to play. Mourinho has prioritized winning the Europa League over finishing as high as possible in the Premier League. He would likely improve his options during the summer as he would want to challenge for every title in his second year. Rodriguez would surely have a better chance though there would be no promise of silverware.
